Ito Ogawa, a novelist and essayist, was born in Japan in 1973. Her debut work The Restaurant of LOVE Regained (original title: Shokudō katatsumuri) was published in 2008, and since then over 30 books were translated into English, Korean, Chinese, French, Spanish and Italian. The Restaurant of LOVE Regained won the Bancarella Prize in Italy in 2011 and the Eugenie Brazier Prize in France in 2013. It was adopted into a film Rinco’s Restaurant (Japan, 2010). Other notable works were also made into NHK Television drama series and radio programmes in Japan. Tsubaki Stationery Store (2016) and its sequel Kirakira Republic (2017) were both nominated for the grand prize award which were organised by bookshops throughout Japan. Her latest book is The Sweets of Lions (2019). She has also published two lifestyle books.
